What is Please and Carrots?

Please and Carrots is a quarterly toy subscription that is customized for early learning with exclusive activities and advice to support parents.  It is a convenient solution for busy parents of children ages newborn to 3 years old, the most critical time for brain development.

Each toy is approved by a child psychologist to support developmental milestones to provide a foundation for a lifetime of learning. In addition, the subscription includes insights from a panel of child development experts who provide advice on topics that are important to parents such as sleep, eating and skill development.

How often do I get a delivery?

We send you a new box every three months (quarterly). The toys selected are designed to be used over the 3 month period and beyond.  In fact, many of our toys are classics that your child will play with for many years.  We send to you all at once so you can set the pace to your child’s unique needs.

What is in the box?

Each box contains 3-4 full sized high quality toys and 1-2 books from trusted brands such as Hape, Melissa and Doug and Lamaze. We are not just another subscription box – we don’t just send you “stuff”.  We never include filler or sample sized products – only expert approved, full size, toys and books that developmentally support your child.

What do I get online?

In addition, you get access to exclusive members-only activities to enjoy with your child that change and grow with your child, along with tips from our amazing panel of experts including advice from our speech-language pathologist.

Who are your experts?

We spent a great deal of time finding amazing experts to bring to you. We have a child psychologist, two pediatricians, a PhD in early childhood development, an educator trained in teaching deaf children, a principal and educator trained in teaching children with special needs, and a speech therapist. All of these experts bring their knowledge and support to you, answering your questions and ensuring your child has the best start at developing physically, emotionally and intellectually.

How big is your box?

 

Our box is 12*12*12”. It’s big! And many of our moms have said it looks like a fun package when it arrives – older toddlers even recognize the box.  A typical subscription box can be much smaller, for example 9.5 * 12.5 * 4”.  While some recent boxes from others have included items such as a pouch of baby food, bib, dish soap sample and bandaids, we will only ever provide you meaningful, educational and expert approved toys.

What box will you send me?

We ask you for the month and year your child was born so that we can send you the box that is appropriate by age and stage of development.  Our age ranges are in 3 month increments (birth-3 months, 3-6 months, 6-9 months etc.)  If you are in the last month of the range, we will factor in the shipping time and send you the next box so that you get the maximum amount of time and benefits from the box.  The subscription grows with your child’s age so if you start at the 3-6 months box, in 3 months, we will send you the 6-9 months box.

What if I want a box outside of my child's age range?

Our experts have carefully approved each toy to best support development at each stage.  Because of this, we don’t recommend going outside of your child’s age range.  Please contact us at support@pleaseandcarrots.com if you have more questions.

What if I lose my box insert?

If you lose the box insert, contact us at support@pleaseandcarrots.com and we will send you a new one.

What if my baby isn’t born yet – can I order?

Yes, please email us at support@pleaseandcarrots.com to let us know the projected due date and we will plan your first delivery to match. Same goes for ordering gifts for pregnant friends.  You can also go through the subscribe or gift links and enter information that way.

My child is over 3 - how can I get a box?

Can I gift Please and Carrots?

Yes – Please and Carrots makes a wonderful gift for babyshowers, birthdays, holidays or anytime.  You can choose 1 box, 2 boxes (6 months) or 4 boxes (1 year) gifts.

Do you have different boxes for boys and girls?

No, we believe, and our experts support, that your child’s development benefits from exposing them to a variety of toys that are not gender focused.  At this age, most children don’t identify with boy versus girl toys yet so it is an opportunity to introduce a wide range to develop a variety of interests and skills.  See our article in our parenting advice section and stay tuned for more from our experts.

Why is 0-3 so important?

We work closely with Zero to Three, the National Center for Infants, Toddlers and Families. Their extensive research shows that the brain grows significantly in these first few years. It is a CRITICAL time in baby’s cognitive development, with the brain forming millions of connections during this period – more so than any other period in our lives.

Why do the ages of the toys in your boxes not always match my baby's age

Ages on toys are based on safety and liability, not development. So while you shouldn’t use a toy if your child is younger than the age stipulated, you may want to use that toy to develop specific skills much later. Our experts have helped us determine when is the appropriate time to play with each toy to get the most out of it and what developmental milestone it can support.

My baby isn't responding to one of the toys in the box - what do I do?

Milestones are guidelines and there is a wide range that is considered normal. Do not worry if your child develops certain skills later.   Contact your pediatrician if you are concerned.  For more information on this topic, our expert, Dr. Bartell, has written this article for more information.

Do we need to return the toys before the next delivery?

Absolutely Not. These toys are yours to keep, and we believe that many of them will be fun for your child over longer periods of time. When you are done, we suggest sharing with friends and family or finding a local community center that will accept the donation where other children can benefit from these great toys.

What if my child has mastered the milestones in the current box?

Milestones happen in ranges so some children may reach certain milestones faster or slower.  Toys are selected to be used not just for this age, but beyond as their skills develop and you will see your child come back to these toys over and over even as they get older.  Contact us at support@pleaseandcarrots.com or call us at 1 (800) 773-6520 if you still have questions.

We receive and review all the questions to our experts. The questions that are relevant to many parents will be answered through our discussion forums or blogs.

Billing and Subscription Questions
What is the price and how do you bill?
Please and Carrots offers the following subscription plans:

  • $349 for an annual subscription of 4 quarterly boxes = $87/box
  • $99 for a quarterly subscription of 1 quarterly box = $99/box
  • If your child is between ages 2 and 3, you will have an option for a pro-rated annual plan.

We bill upfront based on the plan (annual or quarter) you choose.  Plans auto-renew except for gifts.

What credit cards do you accept?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover cards.

How do renewals work?

If you purchased a subscription for yourself, your deliveries will continue until your child reaches age 3. If you purchased a gift, it will not renew beyond the period you chose when placing the order.

How can I cancel my subscription?

If you no longer wish to be part of the Please and Carrots community, please go to My Account.

You will still receive all of the boxes you have already paid for but your subscription will not renew when it expires.

Will my order be subject to taxes?

You may be charged tax based on the state that your order is being shipped to.

Shipping Questions
Where do you ship to?

We currently ship to all 50 US states. We look forward to providing International shipping soon.

When I place an order, when will it arrive?

We wants you to get started with our program as soon as possible – no waiting for a particular date in the month or quarter! As soon as we receive your order, we will start to process and ship. We aim to have your first box to you within 7 business days.

Will you let know when my box is shipping?

Yes, we will send you a notification every quarter when your box ships so you know when to expect it.

IfI send a gift, how do I know if the delivery has been received?

As soon as you place an order, you’ll receive an order confirmation email from us. Then you and parents of the baby will receive another email with tracking details when we’ve shipped your order. If you have a question about the status of your order, please email us at support@pleaseandcarrots.com. If you didn’t receive an email confirmation for your order, please check your  “Spam” or “Junk Mail” folder, and then let us know.  Also, we will send a gift message to the parents but you should let them know to look out for the email.

When will you ship my next box?

If you subscribed or purchased a gift greater than 1 box, we will ship your second box 3 months after your first box.  Our boxes are designed for 3 month periods.  If you want it to come earlier or later than this, email us at support@pleaseandcarrots.com to discuss with us.

How can I change my shipping address?

You can easily do so at My Accounts.

How much is shipping?

Shipping is free to continental U.S. addresses.  There is an additional $7 charge to addresses in Alaska and Hawaii.

Problems With My Box
There was a problem with my box - what do I do?

Please email us at support@pleaseandcarrots.com or call us at 1 (800) 773-6520 7am-6pm CST and let us know about the issue. We will respond to all emails within 48 hours.

What is your return policy?

Subscription boxes are not returnable, however if you have a problem with your box, please contact us at support@pleaseandcarrots.com or call us at 1(800) 773-6520.

Why do I need an account?

We have age specific activities, speech tips and a members only community area available to our subscribers that you can access when you set up your account.  Your account area is also where you can make changes to billing or shipping information.

How do I access my account?

We sent you an account access email when you placed your order with instructions on how to access your account.  If you have trouble accessing your account, please contact us at support@pleaseandcarrots.com.

I forgot my password!

Follow the directions when you try to log in at My Account.  Check your email to tell you how to reset your password.
